Hi, I’m Sara!
A Catholic wife, mathematician, former teacher, sometimes artist, and mom of 4 who loves the mystery of the Holy Eucharist.
I’m here to open wide the doors of my heart as I seek to answer the universal call to holiness in my life. I invite you to walk this road with me, drawing closer to Jesus together every step of the way.
Together, we can seek to know, love, and serve God in this life we live, in order to be happy with him forever in heaven.
Head over to the blog to check out the latest game of Catholic Trivia, revisit the readings from Sunday’s Mass, or peruse thoughts and reflections about a life lived in pursuit of virtue.
P.S. I love when you comment. It warms my heart to know you’re there, reading along, and sharing this journey with me.
Do you remember that lesson we learned as kids in catechism class about how we are supposed to know, love, and serve God in this life in order to be happy with him in the next?
That task doesn’t end when we grow up.
As adults in the Catholic Faith, we all have a vocation to holiness. We’re all called to pursue heaven with our minds, hearts, and actions.
I’m ready to dive deeper into living my faith, and I want you along with me for the journey.
- Do you want to know God more intimately?
- Are you ready to love him more deeply?
- Will you commit yourself to serving him faithfully every day?
You’ve come to the right place.
Learning, Praying, Pursuing Virtue
Here, we will learn about God together. We will grow closer to him through prayer, and especially the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. We will pursue virtue through the daily grind.
We won’t be perfect, but we will grow together.
Even if we only know each other digitally, we are members of the same Body of Christ. I am honored and blessed to have you by my side on this journey.
And I look forward to the day (on earth or in heaven) when I can meet you face to face, give you a big hug, and give you a sincere and heartfelt “Thank you!” for drawing closer to Jesus with me.
Please remember to stop in and say “hi” on social media!

Pursuing Virtue – Virtue Challenge
The monthly Virtue Challenge is a devotion that’s dear to my heart. When I realized I was trying to do all-the-things… to perfect every virtue… root out every sin… I was overwhelmed with my lack of progress. And then it hit me – hey, what if I focus on just one virtue each month? And for a whole month, learn about that virtue, pray for it, practice it. These challenges have helped me make real progress in my spiritual life. To discover and remedy my weaknesses. But I’m still far from perfect, so I’ll be repeating these challenges year after year. I hope you will join me for the challenges!
Praying – My Mass Takeaway
Sunday is the Lord’s day… but how do we set it apart from every other day of the week? Sometimes, just by going to Mass for an hour in the morning, then business as usual. But I decided I want more. I don’t want to walk away from Mass and forget the readings, the homily, the grace I’ve been given through God’s Word and His very Body. I want to carry Him with me in my heart, truly devoting the day to loving Him. Join me every Sunday on Instagram or Facebook to read #MyMassTakeaway: a summary of the thoughts and reflections I bring home from Mass. Use hashtag #MyMassTakeaway to join the conversation!
My Mass Takeaway is inspired by Rosie Hill from A blog for my mom, and her #MySundayBest linkup.

Sara, this is short notice but Sunday I have to talk to a group of 2nd – 4th graders about Adoration. I have talked to Adults and HS age students but not this age. Do you have any ideas, example etc of how to explain Adoration and the value of spending time alone with Jesus in front of the Tabernacle?

Hi Robin! Thanks for the question. There are two things that come to mind. 1. Talk to them about who they’re with. 2. Talk to them about what to do.
For the first part, these students are about the age of First Holy Communion and a little bit older. I’ve noticed that kids this age have been introduced to the fact that Jesus is there in the Holy Eucharist, but they must be reminded! It’s hard for them to grasp that reality. So talk to them about looking at the Eucharist, and imagining Who’s REALLY there. Jesus is right there with them. If it helps, they can imagine what He looks like, what He might say to them. They can imagine Him walking from the monstrance to come sit next to Him in the pew. Activate their imagination to help them put themselves in Jesus’ Presence in Eucharist Adoration.
For the second part, kids are not abstract thinkers. Quiet, meditative prayer is hard for them. If they sit in the pew with nothing to do, they might get bored or distracted. I would encourage them to bring something to do. A page to color or write on. They can draw a picture for Jesus, or write Him a letter. Encourage them to tell Him anything they’re thinking about. To tell Him what they love about their day. To thank Him for their blessings. To talk to Him about anything and everything. They don’t need to do formal prayer. Just thinking about Jesus and telling Him about their day is a lovely and wonderful way to pray.
I hope that these suggestions help you introduce Adoration at the kids’ level! Let me know how it goes.
God bless,
Sara
