A Journey of Beautiful Discovery for the Bride-to-be

We are Created for Love.

This book is a gorgeous tool and a beautiful keepsake of a bride’s journey to marriage.

If your wedding is coming up, this book was made for you.

Please note: I received Created for Love in exchange for an honest review. As always, I only review products I LOVVVE and can fully stand behind. This post contains Amazon affiliate links.

It will walk you through the excitement, nerves, turmoil, questions, and joys of entering into this beautiful vocation.

While you immerse yourself in wedding prep, it’s important to stay focused on who you are.

“As an engaged woman, it’s oh-so-tempting to wrap up your identity in your wedding planning.

But your identity rests in something much deeper than your wedding day. First and foremost, you are a daughter of God.

He created you for love.”

(Created for Love, p. 10)

He created you for love.

Not love, the butterflies and happy feelings. Love the beautiful, extravagant, selfless, lifelong choice.

Chloe Langr (author) will introduce you to the “feminine genius” with four masterfully prepared sections in this book.

She leads you through deep reflections on:

  • receptivity,
  • generosity,
  • sensitivity, and
  • maternity

with solid Catholic advice. Her reflections are deep, but gentle.

She understands your simultaneous stress and joy. Your desire to be loved, known, and understood. She’s here to walk with you through it all.

I love how this book encourages brides-to-be to set your eyes and hearts on greater things than the picture perfect wedding day.

“But remember, a wedding is a day… Your marriage? Sister, I’m praying that your marriage will be a lifetime adventure.”

(Created for Love, p. 11)

Created for Love is a book I wish I had when I was preparing for marriage. I’d love to share some of my favorite parts with you.

Part 1: Receptivity

In this part of Created for Love, you’ll discover how to let go of your plans and be open to God’s plan for your life.

You’ll reflect about what it means to be truly open to receiving God’s love.

Here’s on of my favorite exceprts about receptivity:

“Marriage, even though it is beautiful and good, can’t answer the desires of my heart and the yearning for unconditional love.

Expecting [my husband] to fulfill and satisfy my every need was expecting my husband to fill the God-shaped hole in my heart.

Are you satisfied with Christ alone? Or are you constantly looking for another source of fulfillment?

Don’t get stuck waiting for the ‘next in each stage of your life.”

(Created for Love, p. 23-24)

If you always keep your heart trained on what’s next, you’ll miss out on receiving the good things God wants to give your right now – first of which is his love for you.

Part 2: Generosity

This section is amazing, and maybe not what you expect.

Generosity is so much more than charitable giving. These reflections will help you open yourself up to giving in ways that fulfill you.

Chloe gives tips on

  • slowing down, to give more to your relationships,
  • being generous with yourself,
  • learning how to extend forgiveness, and
  • loving your soon-to-be-spouse.

She also touches on practical aspects of generosity to keep in mind during your wedding planning.

Are you feeling jealous of others’ perfect weddings? Are you afraid you can’t afford the reception of your dreams? Are you letting the stress of planning steal your joy?

These reflections will help guide you as you pray and navigate through these difficult situations.

One reflection I particularly love helps brides navigate the spotlight.

“In moments when you’re tempted to stand in the artificial spotlight of wedding planning, ask yourself what your wedding day is really about.

Remember to keep the desire for a healthy, holy marriage in sight, and strive to respond to the spotlight with humility…

[Y]ou don’t have to be perfect, or buy into the spotlight in order to find your self-worth. You (and your future husband!) are made for something that burns much brighter and longer than a wedding-day spotlight.

You’re meant for eternity with the Lord, and your marriage should propel you to that goal… together.”

(Created for Love, p. 77)

We all know the common temptation to become “bride-zilla,” and battling that tendency takes grace and prayer, and a generous heart.

Part 3: Sensitivity

Chloe points out that sensitivity is not necessarily the weakness we perceive it to be. Sensitivity is actually a strength.

However, there are certain weaknesses that can creep up on brides, such as perfectionism, self-deprecation, and over-sensitivity.

With this section of the book, brides can become more aware of the tendency towards these weaknesses, and tap into the sensitivity that can make you strong in the face of these struggles.

I love the part where Chloe taps into the friendship between Mary and Elizabeth to highlight the beauty of the feminine genius:

“As women, we have to take this Marian example and live it out in our own lives, embracing intentional friendships…

The Visitation shows us the beauty that blooms from prayer and service to others…

[R]eflect on your relationship with friends and family during this season of your life. Is there any person in particular with whom Christ is inviting you to be sensitive?”

(Created for Love, p. 122-123)

As I think back to my own wedding prep, I love this gift of invitation.

How beautiful it would be for all brides to open themselves up to others in this special time in their lives.

Part 4: Maternity

What does maternity mean to you?

Chloe may open your eyes up to a new understanding. In this part of the book, she discusses first of all the spiritual maternity that is common to all women.

She walks you through the joys and struggles of discerning physical maternity.

She helps you connect with Mary and Holy Mother Church.

She taps into your role in creating a “domestic church” as a new family,

But, perhaps best of all, is the reflection where she helps you see your body as something good. This can be a true battle for women.

“As a woman, your body makes visible what is invisible – receptivity, sensitivity, generosity, maternity.

Even though some days it may not feel like it, your body is the perfect package for your unique personhood as a woman and as a daughter of God.”

(Created for Love, p. 179)

In a culture that sees fertility and maternity as things to be avoided, Chloe will open your eyes to the beauty of these integral parts of who you are: a beautiful woman, with maternity written on your body and in your soul.
